FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Does City Hall have a night drop for utility payments?

Yes. It is located in the alley between City Hall and the City Hall Annex.

Only checks or money orders should be deposited into the box. We will not be responsible for the loss of cash payments left in the box.

If I had a plumbing problem, will you adjust my bill?

The City will make a one-time only adjustment if you provide documentation of a major plumbing problem that does not impact the sewer system. (Such as a broken line in the yard.) However, the adjustment will be on the sewer portion only of the bill.

How do I purchase an irrigation meter to water my lawn?

Application should be made at the Building Department at 907 Pennsylvania Ave. After an on-site visit, a cost will be determined and you will be called to see if you would like to proceed. The cost will not exceed $400. If you wish to purchase the meter, you pay for it and the Utility Department will place you on their schedule for installation.

How much is my deposit for new service?

$150. $100 is a refundable deposit after 48 months of an acceptable payment record and $50 is a non-refundable connection fee.

Do you waive the deposit for military personnel?

No.

Can I get an extra household garbage can?

Yes. There is an additional cost of $2.82 per month added to your bill. Call Public Works at 265-5989 to get it delivered.

Can I cut down a tree in my yard?

Yes. Any tree located on private, residential property may be cut down without the City's approval. However, if you pay someone to cut the tree down for you, they must be licensed with the City and they are responsible for the disposal of the tree.

Do senior citizens get a discount on the utility bill?

Yes, on the garbage portion of the bill only. To qualify you must be at least 65 years of age and only two people living in the household. Senior citizens cannot get an extra garbage can due to the discount.

When should I expect to receive my bill each month?

If you live on the east side of Highway 77, bills are mailed to you on the 15th of each month with a due date of the 30th of that same month.

If you live on the west side of Highway 77, bills are mailed to you on the last day of the month (30th or 31st) and will be due on the15th of the next month (Fifteen days from mailing)

Your due date is listed on your bill. A 10% penalty is applied if not received at City Hall by your due date.

Can I pay my bill with a credit card?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover if you pay in person at City Hall.

How can I get appointed to a City Board?

Stop by City Hall and fill out an application. A printable application is available on line. When a vacancy becomes available, all applications on file are reviewed and new members are appointed by the City Commission.

Do you only accept applications when a job is available?

No. Applications are accepted at all times and are kept on file for a period of six months. After that time, you must complete a new application.
