Mayor Margo Anderson

Dear Fellow Citizens of Lynn Haven:

I have served as Mayor of the City of Lynn Haven for just a little over two years, and I can truly say the experience so far has been both challenging and rewarding.  I have met so many of you for the first time in the past thirty months, but I have also had the opportunity to renew old friendships, and to visit in many of your homes and businesses to listen to your ideas and concerns about our city government.

As many of you know, I retired from my position as a staff training specialist with Bay District Schools, and I own a business, Anderson Productions LLC, through which I am a published author and a professional musician and entertainer.   I hold a Master’s degree in Language and Literature from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in English and French from the University of Southern Mississippi.  My work experiences include a Florida real estate license, owning my own business, teaching at the high school and college levels, a technical writer and editor for a U.S. Army contractor, editor and publisher of a community newspaper, and five years as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines.

I am married to Lee Anderson, who is retired and a 100% disabled combat veteran of the United States Navy who served during the Vietnam Conflict; together, we have five children and fourteen grandchildren!

My family has lived in Lynn Haven since 1941 when my great-grandfather and grandparents moved here and built the home my husband and I now live in on the corner of Tennessee Avenue and 6th Street.  My father, Louie W. Deal, now deceased, was a former Lynn Haven City Commissioner, and my mother, Geri Deal, lives next door to me at 511 Tennessee Avenue.  My brother, Dr. Roy Deal, is the medical director of Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital in Panama City, and he also lives in Lynn Haven.  I was born in Bay County and lived as a child in the same house I do now, but traveled and lived in many parts of the United States as well as overseas because of my father’s work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  We moved back to Lynn Haven when he retired in 1985, and I have lived and worked here since that time, happy to return to my childhood home.

I am still as excited and energized serving as your Mayor as I was on the first day, and I invite you to look at new possibilities for our community by regularly attending City Commission meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, and by contacting me with your ideas and concerns.  Contact me any time at 850-814-6001, mayor@cityoflynnhaven.com, and follow me on social media for updates and city news at FACEBOOK@MargoAndersonMayor, and Twitter @lynnhavenmayor.  I am committed to bringing the changes and improvements to Lynn Haven which I promised during my campaign, and I am pleased to report that  all of them have either been completed or are in process at the half-way point in my term as Mayor.  Thank you for the privilege and the opportunity to serve in our beautiful bayside city.
