Deputy Chief Ramie was born in Ogdensburg, New York in June of 1970. His family moved to Panama City in 1972. He is married and has two children and three step-children.
Career & Education
His law enforcement career started in 1991 with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary Program. That same year he attended Gulf Coast Community College where he earned his Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification. Deputy Chief Ramie was hired full time in 1992 by Sheriff Guy Tunnel as a Patrol Deputy. He was promoted to a Criminal Investigator in 1995, Patrol Sergeant in 1997 and Patrol Lieutenant in 1999 by Sheriff Tunnell.
He was also selected as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team member in 1993 where he served until 2004. In 2004, Sheriff Frank McKiethen promoted him to Captain and assigned him as the Narcotics Commander. In 2009, Captain Ramie was transferred to Patrol Commander where he commanded the following:
- 95 Sworn Deputies
- Beach Patrol
- Dive Team
- Marine Unit
- Traffic Unit
In 2016, Captain Ramie was promoted to Major in charge Law Enforcement Operations, by Sheriff Tommy Ford. In November of 2017, he retired from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
In February of 2018, Ramie was hired by the City of Lynn Haven as their Deputy Chief by Chief Matthew Riemer where he currently continues to serve our community. He was appointed Chief of Police on May 10, 2019
