The City of Lynn Haven pursuant to its Charter, operates under a Commission-Manager Plan of government. Residents are served by 5 non-partisan elected officials who are the policy-making body of the City. These elected officials known as the City Commission, in turn, appoint the City Manager who is tasked with overseeing all administrative duties and the daily business operations of the City.
The City Commission consists of a Mayor-Commissioner and four commissioners, each serving a four-year term. The Mayor-Commissioner and commissioner seats one and two are elected in even years. Commissioner seats three and four elected in odd years.
The City Commission legislatively establishes policies in the form of ordinances, and resolutions, which determine the laws, proceedings and service levels for the City. The Mayor presides at all City Council meetings.
The Commission may at any time appoint an Advisory Board or Boards. Currently Lynn Haven has several functioning advisory boards. Fill out the Community Board Application (PDF) to serve on a community board.
