The city currently has 13 paid holidays for full-time and part-time (over 21 hours/week) employees. These holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, and the Day after Christmas.
In addition, all full-time and part-time (over 21 hours/week) employees receive a Birthday Leave Day which can be used 30 days before to 30 days after their birthday.
Full-time and part-time (over 21 hours/week) also start accruing Personal Time Off (PTO) leave credits upon hire. A full-time general employee earns 12 hours of PTO leave credits/months. A full-time sworn police officer earns 13 hours of PTO leave credits/month. A full-time certified firefighter earns 14 hours of PTO leave credits/months. Part-time (over 21 hours/week) earn PTO leave credits on a pro-rata basis.
Other leave credits exist including Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) leave credits. (i.e., 24 hours each calendar year); bereavement leave credits, and jury duty leave credits.
